Interiors When you step into your home, you should feel good about it. Color can be a part of your comfort. An initial interior consultation with basilecolor will involve getting to know you. We will talk to you about your home and your lifestyle, about any color direction preferences you may have and our collaboration will begin. We will start with the consideration of current fabrics, rugs and other home accessories. We will note the special details intrinsic to your home- fireplace, moldings, leaded or stained glass windows, archways, etc. and look at light, also an important factor in how color plays out in your home. We will consider how we can make harmonious transitions as we move from room to room. Once we have given you written suggestions for color, the testing or swatching process will begin. We highly recommend color swatching to arrive at beautiful color and to avoid costly mistakes. Swatching can be done with foam brushes and paint quarts mixed specifically for this purpose or with trial size testers. The smaller testers are increasingly available from major paint companies, though only in limited colors. We recommend you paint large swatches (approximately 24” x 24”) in different parts of each room. Then sit with the new color for several days, noting its effects in shade or sun, on different surfaces and at different times of the day. From there, we will make a follow up visit to assess and adjust original color selections. We will then write up final instructions for your painter, including paint finish and brand.
